Bohol, Philippines 2025- Day 1: Travel Day

The adventure began long before we touched down in the Philippines. Volunteers from across the United States embarked on individual journeys, each with the same destination in mind: Bohol. For many of us, the first real meet-and-greet happened in the Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea. It was a thrill to finally connect face-to-face with the people we’d been coordinating with online for so long.

From Seoul, our group’s numbers swelled as we boarded the final leg of our journey to Manila. Throughout the travel day, there were a few nail-biting moments with tight layovers and delays, but thankfully, everyone made their flights! It felt like a small victory, a sign that everything was falling into place.

Finally, we arrived in Manila, the gateway to our ultimate destination: Bohol. The last leg was a short hop to Tagbilaran City, where we were greeted with the warm, tropical air. We checked into our home for the next week, the beautiful Bohol Tropics Resort. The resort’s lush grounds and inviting atmosphere were the perfect antidote to our long journey.

That evening, the City Government of Tagbilaran graciously hosted a welcome dinner for our group. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect further, share stories from our travels, and enjoy a delicious meal. The warmth and hospitality of our hosts were truly appreciated and set a positive tone for our mission. After a fulfilling evening, we all retreated to our rooms, ready to unpack and get some much-needed rest. Tomorrow, the real work begins. We’re excited, a little tired, but most of all, ready to make a difference in Bohol.
